Torrid heat arriving in the Marche. From the last week of June there could be the risk of some storms also hitting our region, but the phenomena should be limited to the northern sector of the Marche, even if the picture could change over the days. Coming from a cooler period, the body will have to get used to the incoming scorching temperatures, the subjects most at risk are children and the elderly.
The elderly, especially if they are chronically ill (heart patients, diabetics, etc.), are the people most at risk of complications due to the greater sensitivity to heat, the reduction of the thirst stimulus and the lower efficiency of age-related thermoregulation mechanisms. It is important to ensure the right intake of liquids and not go out during the hottest hours. As regards infants and children, the risks are linked to the inability to express any discomfort and the risk of experiencing dehydration with possible harmful consequences on the cardiovascular, respiratory and neurological systems.
