Asti and the motocross track: «The owners have the right to ask for it to be excluded from the Sic»

Back and forth on the hypothesized reopening of the Valmanera track announced by the owner group’s lawyer. In recent days the same lawyer has contacted the Region to start the process of excluding the motocross circuit from the protected area of the Sic in order to repurpose it for recreational sports activities.

The former president of the Asti Paleontological Park Authority Gianfranco Miroglio spoke on the matter, explaining how it is essentially impossible to reopen competitive activity close to the Valmanera woods.

The lawyer Tonino Rotondi, the owners’ lawyer, responded by return mail.

«Regarding the statements made by Mr. Miroglio on the former Valmanera motocross track, I find his position rather singular. I invite you from now on to read the sentence of the Council of State, n. 1635 sec. VI, of 30 March 2015 – President Stefano Baccarini – Est. Andrea Pannone. It states: “The owner of land falling within these areas is entitled to submit a request for downgrading and the administrative procedure is the exclusive competence of the Region. I ask Mr. Miroglio to then clarify whether his statements were made in his capacity as former President of the Paleontological Park Management Body or as a simple citizen who freely expresses his ideas. Regarding ordinary maintenance work, I find it rather strange that Miroglio himself talks about earthmoving. My patronages will respect all ongoing procedures in order to reopen the former motocross track as quickly as possible.”
