Revolution in Sant’Alessio, bans and closures for the construction site

Lucca, 15 June 2024 – Closure to transit, starting from Monday 17 June, of the provincial road 24 ‘of Saint Alexius‘ in the stretch between Sant’Alessio and Carignano, to allow the extension of the sewerage network in Oltreserchio and the strengthening of the water network.

The ordinance issued by the Province, owner of the road in question, is valid along the entire Sp24 ‘di Sant’Alessio’ and, in particular, in the stretch between the intersection with via delle Piagge and the intersection with via Sant’Alessio crossroad VII (Corte Pistelli), in the hamlet of Sant’Alessio (municipality of Lucca), in the period between 17 June and 31 August.

These are the prohibitions: first of all, the Sp24 is closed from the intersection with via Piana to via delle Piagge starting from 8am on Monday 17th until the end of the laying of the pipelines of the first stretch of work, the end of which is estimated for the middle of July. At the end of the works on the first section, but no later than August 31st, it will not be possible to travel on the SP24 from the intersection with via Piana (included), up to via di Sant’Alessio trav. VII (Corte Pistelli), to allow the installation of the pipelines of the second section.

It’s done ban on transit for all trucks weighing more than 3.5 tonnes in the stretch between the intersections with the Sp1 ‘Francigena’ (in the Monte San Quirico area) and the SS439 ‘Sarzanese’ (in the Ponte San Pietro area). Trucks intended for loading/unloading goods for activities present within this area closed to traffic or which, in any case, have no other possibility of access are excluded from this ban. The vehicular traffic connecting the SS439 ‘Sarzanese’ and the SP1 ‘Francigena’ will be diverted to the east, on the Monte San Quirico bridge and to the west on Ponte San Pietro and on the main connections that develop on the other bank of the Serchio river. Homes and commercial and non-commercial activities located in the sections of the SP24 ‘Sant’Alessio’ not directly affected by the works will be able to access either from the Monte San Quirico side or from the Ponte San Pietro side, depending on the progress of the construction site and, obviously, where the homes or businesses that need to be reached are located.
