ALEXANDRIA – This Tuesday it was presented to the Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria Foundation, the exhibition catalogue “Carlo Pace: Signs – Materials – Phonemes”hosted in the Broletto of Palatium Vetus, headquarters of the institution, from April 21st to October 29th last year. This concludes a journey that began with the presentation by the association “Future City” and within the scope of the tender “History and memory“, to the Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria Foundation of the project: “Knowledge and valorization of the artistic work of Carlo Pace, one of the most important Alexandrian painters of the 20th century”.
The project resulted in the publication of a volume, published by False planwhich benefited from the critical commentary of Alberto Dancer and presented part of Carlo Pace’s works divided into four sectors: The Informal Years, Signs, Materials and Phonemes. Subsequently, on the initiative of the Foundation and its President, it was decided to create the exhibition which received qualified acclaim and notable participation from citizens. In this way, justice was done to Carlo Pace, assigning to his long and original artistic commitment which produced an immense legacy of works, the place it deserves in the panorama of Italian pictorial art. The Foundation, in acquiring the catalogs and making them accessible to the interested Alexandrian community, intends to continue, through the dissemination of knowledge, in the valorization and diffusion of culture.
The presentation of the catalogue, published by “LineLab editions“, introduced by the President of the Foundation, the Notary Luciano Mariano saw the participation of the “Città Futura” association with its president, Renzo Penna, of the “Carlo Pace” Archive, with Mrs Pinuccia Gilardenghi Peace and of Alberto Dancer, who edited the commentary.
“The Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria Foundation wanted to honor the memory of the Alessandria master Carlo Pace by organizing a major exhibition of his artistic work in the Picture Gallery of Palatium Vetus, from April to October 2023 – declares the President of the Foundation, notary Luciano Mariano –. This catalog represents the last act of a cultural operation aimed at rediscovering an artist considered “against the grain”, who produced a gigantic body of work, consisting of thousands of works testifying to his tireless activity. A challenge that the Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria Foundation wanted to take up by continuing its commitment to the local area and consolidating the image of Palatium Vetus as a place of art and knowledge. Particular thanks go to the “Città Futura” Association and its president, to the editor of the volume, the journalist Alberto Ballerino, to the organizers of the exhibition and to all those who, in various capacities, contributed to the creation of the catalogue, for the precious work done”.
