The tragedy of Ilie, who fell from a scaffolding on a construction site: yet another victim at work in the Granda

He fell from a height of eight meters and died instantly. An accident at work yesterday afternoon in Saluzzo claimed the life of a 51-year-old construction worker. Ilie Boboescu, Romanian, had lived in the Saluzzo area for years. He had always worked in the construction sector, first with some companies in the Moretta area and now for a company in Piasco specialized in the removal and disposal of asbestos.

Yesterday he was busy in Saluzzo, in the Bronda region, in the shed used as an agricultural warehouse of a house along the provincial road between Saluzzo and Revello, just before the bridge over the Po. He was probably installing some scaffolding and safety devices necessary for the subsequent interventions on the coverage when – for reasons currently being investigated by the Carabinieri of Saluzzo and Spresal, the prevention service for workplace safety of the ASL Cn1 – he lost his balance, falling to the ground from a height of approximately eight meters . A fatal fall. Despite the immediate intervention of colleagues and the owners of the building, who called 118, nothing could be done to save the worker’s life.

After the arrival of help, the man’s body was transferred to the mortuary rooms of the Saluzzo hospital, where the Cuneo Public Prosecutor’s Office will probably carry out an autopsy to obtain further information on the causes of death. Boboescu had lived in Italy for some time and some former colleagues describe him as “an excellent worker, who always faced every day on the construction site with a smile and commitment”. The one in Saluzzo is the first fatal accident at work in the month of June in the province of Cuneo. The latest tragic case was recorded over a month ago, on 6 May, in Valloriate in the Stura valley, where a 63-year-old woman, Marina Bussone, died while she and her husband were busy collecting wood in a forest of property in the hamlet of Scombe Sottano. She had been hit by the tractor trailer, driven by her husband Renato Bernardi, which overturned at the height of a curve.
