The Sport Comune project was presented this morning at a press conference in the council room of the municipality of Catania, aimed at making the new facilities dedicated to sporting activities in some urban areas of the city which have recently been redeveloped for this purpose accessible to citizens municipal administration. The project is financed on the national territory by Sport and Health which has chosen Catania as a pilot city for the launch of this activity which will make use of the active collaboration of CONI, a unique example to date in Italy, as also underlined by the interventions of the participants at the speakers.
The city areas dedicated to these activities are: Piazza Beppe Montana, Piazza Franco Battiato and the recently inaugurated sports area of the Villaggio Sant’Agata. The sporting activities offered to citizens in a totally free and free way will take place simultaneously in the three areas on Saturday 29 June and then continue every Saturday in the months of September and October with three sports disciplines for each site on each of the established days.
After the greetings of the mayor Enrico Trantino, the project was presented to the press by the Councilor for Sport Sergio Parisi, host of the event, by the director of sport in the Sport and Health territories, Lorenzo Marzoli, the deputy vice president of the regional CONI and delegate for Catania, Enzo Falzone, and the regional coordinator of Sport and Health, Germana Vinci, with Fabio Pagliara, president of the SportCity foundation as moderator of the meeting. Also present was the multiple championship winner Tania Di Mario, testimonial together with other sports champions of the Illumina di Sport e Salute project, which aims to bring sport where it doesn’t exist and which took inspiration from what was done in Caivano , also through information, so much so that Rai has planned a series of broadcasts which will feature our city tomorrow, Saturday 15 June at 11.25am on Rai1.
