Grottaglie shines for the G7

Clear blue skies that only June can offer, clouds like cotton balls, 27 degrees of temperature mitigated by a light north wind and the natural beauty of a polished and armored Grottaglie Ceramics District (there was the Taranto police commissioner in person to coordinate the security service) welcomed in the middle of the day some of the delegations present at the G7 being held in Savelletri (Borgo Egnazia, it was rightly pointed out to us, is the resort that hosts the world’s greats ). Participants included Britta Ernst, wife of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Yuko Kishida, wife of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Heiko Von der Leyen, husband of the President of the European Commission Ursula Von der Leyen, Amèlie Derbaudrenghien, wife of the President of the European Council Charles Michel , Ritu Banga, wife of World Bank President Ajay Banga. Doing the honors were the general secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Carlo Deodato with his wife Cristina Capranica and Laura Marzano, wife of the Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister Francesco Saggio.

The spouses visited the historic Nicola Fasano ceramics workshop, where they witnessed the artisanal production and decoration phases of the artefacts. They were given a plate made on the spot on which the image of their faces was painted. Also in Grottaglie, the “Casa Vestita” ceramic museum was also visited under the guidance of master Cosimo Vestita.

In the photos taken by Ezio Cairoli, the arrival on Thursday evening of the state planes of the delegations of Japan, Germany and France and the greeting of the prefect of Taranto, Paola Dessì, to the German chancellor Olaf Scholz.
