In love with Civitavecchia. No other definitions come to mind to remember Costantino Forno, who left us this morning at the age of 86. For almost half a century Costantino was an authentic protagonist of city life, first in the journalistic field and then in the cultural field. Perhaps few will remember him, but he was among the first to frequent the control room of Trc. It was 1980 and Costantino Forno had a very important role within one of the first Italian television stations, among the first in Lazio.

Then his activity moved to the printed paper, initially as a collaborator of some newspapers and then as director of “OC – L’odio e il comparazione” periodical which courageously tried to face and create debate around the great themes of Civitavecchia, some of which remained such after a few years. Then another of his creations, the cultural association “Il Pirgo”, through which he became the promoter of important initiatives that remained in the history of Civitavecchia, such as the “Premio Traiano” which every year gave recognition to the Civitavecchia resident who had distinguished himself the most in the previous twelve months, or like the creation of the ceramics in the arches located on Viale della Vittoria, on the wall below Viale della Stazione and which recall the twinning of Civitavecchia with Ishinomaki. His intense activity as a cultural promoter had suffered a sudden and unfortunately definitive stop following the tragic road accident in which his son Eugenio was the victim, who ended up with his motorbike under the wheels of a CSP compactor, near the lighthouse.
Costantino Forno’s funeral will be held on Monday, starting at 3.30 pm in the Church of San Francesco di Paola. Trc Telecivitavecchia’s deepest condolences to the family.
