The assembly of the Democratic Party of Fiumicino was held yesterday on the topic of port work. The theme of the debate, unlike previous meetings, was therefore focused on how we live and work with ports.
“In consideration of the construction of the first section of the commercial port of Fiumicino Nord, Fiumicino is preparing to have an important public infrastructure whose development must be governed in concert between the City of Fiumicino and thePort System Authority”. They underlined it Michela Califano and Ezio by Genesio Pagliuca.
The debate placed itself at the center the theme of port work which today is of quality because protected by framework law 84/94 which defines a governance of concertation between shipowners and port workers. The law guarantees the application of the single port workers’ contract to all workers in the sector.

Even the trade union representatives of FILT-CGIL and of CISL they reiterated the centrality of law 84/94 for the protection of port work and highlighted the difference with airport work which was completely precarious after the liberalizations of recent years.
“The PD – he stated Paola De Micheli, former Minister of Transport – will put a stop to the attempts to dismantle the 84/94 that the right-wing government would like to make. The law must be updated with the times but the principles of public governance and employment protection must not be touched. The private cruise port of Isola Sacrain fact introduces a principle of liberalization and therefore it must be blocked in any way”.
Full support of the national secretariat to undertake all the initiatives necessary to avoid the problems that emerged from the debate, was guaranteed by the national coordinator Marta Bonafoni.
