CIVITAVECCHIA – We receive and publish from Roberta Galletta
In these days following the first round of voting for the elections of the new mayor and related municipal council of our Civitavecchia I have been contacted by many citizens, many of the 1810 who believed in our visions and above all in our civic commitment in the political panorama of Civitavecchia, for know who to vote for in the next round of voting on Sunday 23 and Monday 24 June 2024 between the candidates for the office of mayor Marco Piendibene and Massimiliano Grasso.
You can also imagine the discussions and the confusion of many since, due to a complicated mathematical method that assigns the seats in our electoral system which uses the proportional system, the D’Hont method, if Massimiliano Grasso is elected I will be in the City Council among the benches of the opposition, while if Marco Piendibene is elected I will be out. And this fact has evidently created difficulties for the voters who last weekend expressed confidence in me and in the list that supported me, the Galletta Mayor List.
Regarding this situation, given that all of us have always believed in the value of voting and the importance of citizens’ democratic participation in political life precisely through the exercise of voting, an important right but also a fundamental duty, especially in this difficult historical moment and surrounded by dangerous anti-democratic tendencies, we will all vote and we invite all our voters to vote in the run-off round.
However, considering that our list is not born and does not die in the time of an election to support a mayoral candidate, we will continue to work because we want to impact the history and political life of Civitavecchia, because we have achieved a great result thanks to the many citizens who have chosen to vote for our list precisely because it is disconnected and free from commitments and above all ties with other political forces. We are therefore now a new political entity in the city panorama which bases its nature on a very precious heritage of people who for me, but above all for our Community, are a value and a human capital to be protected and defended.
Everyone knows my path taken in years of militancy in the center-left area and it is therefore clear where my vote will go, firm, convinced and aware that in the event that I do not enter the City Council I do not intend to ask for anything in return, without apparent or assignments of any other nature.
Because the value of a person is manifested not based on how much he is able to ask and obtain but in what he is capable of giving.
And I, together with the List that supported and continues to support me, have so much to give to our Civitavecchia
