Everything is ready for the big Rome Pride Parade. The appointment is tomorrow at 3pm in Piazza della Repubblica from where 40 floats will parade. The procession will be opened by the Coordinamento Roma Pride float, dedicated to the anniversary of the event which this year blows out 30 candles. Above the godmother of the event: the singer Annalisa. Among the floats, that of Circolo Mario Mieli, the LGBTQIA+ association that has organized Pride since the first edition in 1994, will stand out among all with the claim ‘Mai Zitte3 – You will never silence us‘.
“An extremely timely slogan given that Italy on LGBTQIA+ rights has fallen to 36th place in the Ilga Europe ranking – explains the spokesperson for Roma Pride, Mario Colamarino, during the press conference on the eve of the rainbow parade – The LGBTQIA+ community has received many blows in the last two years from right-wing policies. We are a marginalized community and we need the most truthful narrative possible. We have therefore decided to launch a campaign in response to Atreju’s campaign which has ridiculed intellectuals, journalists and non-TV hosts appreciated by the current government majority. On the other hand, the silhouettes of Formigli, Littizzetto, Fazio, Bortone, Scurati, Gruber, Saviano and Ranucci will parade on the float of the Circolo Mario Mieli, our allies who over the years have kept interest in the claims and the rights denied to us by the institutions, thus allowing the demands of the LGBTQIA+ movement not to be silenced. Many people who have made a difference this year by protecting freedom of information”.
“We will all take to the streets with our faces, our bodies and above all our voices. I expect a record number of participants. We need all the support possible in this fight for rights”, underlines Colamarino. Furthermore, “this year is a special year because we will be live in conjunction with the G7 these days: we will be heard from afar with messages addressed to the Meloni government”.
Among the other floats present in the parade: the Rainbow Families train, the Disability Pride float, that of Disney, W Rome, Cosmopolitan, Lpg Led, Pulsee, P&G, Veralab, Olimpo, Peroni, Ben & Jerry’s, Sephora , which will host the singer Big Mama and the ultra-technological one of Muccassassina, a historic self-financing evening of the Mario Mieli Homosexual Culture Club.

Roma Pride will wind through the streets of Rome starting at 3pm from Piazza della Repubblica and passing through Viale Luigi Einaudi – Piazza dei Cinquecento – Via Cavour – Piazza dell’Esquilino – Via Liberiana – Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore – Via Merulana – Via Labicana – Colosseum Square – Via Celio Vibenna – Via di San Gregorio – Porta Capena Square – Via delle Terme di Caracalla.
