Legnano (Milan) – He passed away due to a sudden illness that left him with no escape on Monday morning Roberto “Chicco” Clericia well-known figure in the city for his commitment on the front line in numerous realities and associations: an assiduous presence which had brought him, again in this year’s edition of City Palioto provide an important contribution.
Clerici, born in Legnano in 1946 (cousin of the presenter Antonella Clerici), he graduated from the Carlo dell’Acqua institute. After having gained considerable experience in the publishing sector and having collaborated with some of the major trade fair bodies at a national level, he began his activity in the public relations sector as a consultant and press office in public relations firms. Assistant director for major fashion events, he has followed programs such as “Woman under the stars”, “San Remo fashion” and well 18 editions of Miss Italy. In the city he has always been present in the field of volunteering and associations.
In the world of the Palio he is remembered as captain and grand prior of the district of San Magnodeputy Grand Master of the College of Captains and Contrade, Knight of the Northern League and co-founder of the Permanent costume commission; in associations he was a councilor of the Legnanese family, vice-president of Musical Youth, collaborator of associations active in the field of disability, creator and president of the Legnano 2011 Committee (for 150 years of national unity) and of the Legnano Sailing Club. In 2021 he was promoter and member of the Felice Musazzi Centenary Committee.
Mayor Lorenzo Rootthe councilor with responsibility for the Palio Guido Bragato and the entire council immediately expressed their condolences, recalling that Clerici was awarded the civic merit only two years ago, in 2022, with this motivation: “for having actively collaborated with numerous Legnano companies, holding organizational and managerial roles, always making the experience, skills and knowledge acquired in various work opportunities available in every area”.
“I have met many people in these years as mayor and I can say that Roberto Clerici was one of the most passionate lovers of the Legnano tradition who I had the fortune and pleasure of knowing – says Radice –. Creative in everything he imagined and created, Clerici has always demonstrated a love for the city’s history and culture, as well as a truly unique aesthetic taste. With him the City of Legnano loses a personality who, in various fields, from associations to the Palio to sport, has always moved with great skills and passiona quality he demonstrated amply on the last occasion in which he collaborated with the municipal administration within the Committee for the Centenary of Legnano Città.
“Clerici – concludes Radici – was one of the most proactive members of the Committee and we owe to him the idea of holding the exhibition dedicated to Gianfranco Ferre which we will host in Hall of Coats of Arms starting in September. But I also want to remember his requests to return to bringing our Palio and the name of Legnano outside the borders, as we did last February with the episode at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. We will have the opportunity to remember him publicly in future events Centenary. Deepest condolences to his family.”
Condolences for thesudden disappearance it was also expressed by the leaders of the Palio world, by the Board of Directors of the Palio Foundation and by the Knight of the Carroccio, Andrea Monaci, as well as by the Legnanese Family, through the President Gianfranco Bononi, Ragiù Giuseppe Colombo and the board of directors: “Roberto was an eminent Legnanese – said Bononi –, a great man of Palio and a brotherly friend. We will miss him very much.”
