As part of the territorial control services carried out in the capital aimed at the prevention and repression of predatory crimes, yesterday evening a patrol from the General Prevention and Public Rescue Office of the Benevento Police Headquarters, during a checkpoint, ordered the stopped near the Rotonda dei Pentri to two boys on board a moped who were heading towards the city centre.

Upon seeing the State Police officers, they suddenly reversed the direction of travel and moved away towards the Pantano district. After a short chase, the two subjects were stopped and immediately subjected to a check to discover the reason for their escape.

Following investigations, it was established that the two boys, both 19 years old and residing in municipalities neighboring the capital, were traveling without a license or other identity document on board a moped stolen on 10 June in Benevento.

In fact, a more careful check revealed that a letter of the license plate had been altered using black tape and that the bodywork of the vehicle, originally orange, had been repainted black. At the end of the investigations, the detainees were referred to the judicial authorities for the crime of receiving stolen goods and sanctioned for having been traveling on board a vehicle with a counterfeit license plate.

Furthermore, due to some police prejudices, the Police Commissioner of Benevento issued a mandatory deportation order against them with an order for immediate removal and a ban on returning to the capital for a period of two years.
