No agreement, River Chamber session until final approval for Autonomy

Rome, 18 June. (askanews) – The Chamber of Deputies approved the river session on the autonomy bill with 54 votes, which will therefore be examined without interruption until final approval. The request came from Fdi group leader Tommaso Foti when the session resumed after the conference of group leaders in which “it was not possible to reach an agreement on the order of business”.

“It is an unacceptable forcing that responds to political, not institutional, logic: you have made an exchange agreement, an insult to the institutions. What need was there? You have the numbers, why make these efforts?. I think the limit has been crossed. The relationships between the majority and the opposition are altered. It is a mistake, a disfigurement of the Constitution, it is the dictatorship of the majority”, said Federico Fornaro (Pd) speaking in the chamber against the request for a river session.

“No agreement with those who do not respect Parliament. They want to close the unholy pact with the Prime Minister and, with this obsession, the right imposes frenetic and useless rhythms to close the Split Italy. Whatever the situation, they decided, there are no possible mediations”, observed the vice-president of AVS Marco Grimaldi. The M5s and Action groups also spoke out against the river session. “This nocturnal forcing that you have imposed on us shows the smallness with which you are experiencing the institutions”, underlined Elena Bonetti (Az).

“Shame, shame”, the chorus addressed to the majority, with which the opposition groups protested against the decision to go ahead with a lengthy session on the autonomy bill until the final vote. The head of Justice of the Democratic Party, Debora Serracchiani, gave the ‘A’ to the protest and was immediately reprimanded by the vice-president on duty Giorgio Mulè who called her to order: “Shame, no one says it, respect the presidency. He doesn’t force me to do what I don’t want to do.”

Claudio Mancini (Pd) intervened in Serracchiani’s defence: “You cannot summon parliamentarians in an intimidating manner, we have great respect for you but you should not lend yourself to representing the majority of fans”.

“The word intimidating does not belong to my vocabulary, it is unacceptable. I only reminded Serracchiani to be respectful of the classroom”, replied Mulè.

The MP Federico Fornaro asked to intervene to underline that “shame after what happened, it is a political judgement, a personal judgment was not given, the choice to put the river session on an already contingent measure is a shameful choice” .
