First point of contact betweenRussian oligarchy and theescape of Artem Uss, the entrepreneur son of the governor of a Siberian province very close to Putin who on March 22 2023 escaped from house arrest in Basiglio in the province of Milan while he was waiting for the procedure to proceed extradition before the Milan appeals court requested by the United States in an investigation into trafficking of dual-use civil military components.
It is indeed Russian entrepreneur Dmitry Chirakadze, co-founder of the Pravo.ru group, owner of the e-justice system of the same name which provides support to Russian court websites, the new one arrested by the Milan magistrates, after in recent months the investigation by the Carabinieri coordinated by the prosecutor Giovanni Tarsia had led to precautionary measures for five people (Albanian, Serbian, Bosnian, Slovenian nationals)three of which have been handed over to the Italian authorities so far.
It was right one of these arrested, Vladimir Jovancic, in his interrogations before the Milanese magistrates, to open a new chapter in the investigation, saying that he had been approached by the wife of Uss, Maria Yagodina, And from a Russian called «Dima» (presumably Dmitry Chirakadze), who had explained to him that, after the decision in favor of extradition, Uss could no longer remain in Italy and had to be “exfiltrated”: mission for which, Jovancic added, Uss’s wife had anticipated him 7 thousand euros for the purchase of a car and a mobile phone dedicated to their communications.
At this point also towards Maria Yagodina, which is located in Russia and had left Italy immediately after her husband’s escape from house arrest, was issued a precautionary custody order, which has been internationalised, for procured escape. Yagodina left for Russia on March 13, 2023, nine days before the escapewith the motivation of having to look after her minor son and ensuring that she would return on April 17th.
Dmitry Chirakadze, 54 years old, residence in Geneva, is an aristocrat, descendant of a Grand Duke of Georgiaand is married to a wealthy Russian woman, Lyubov Orlova, with which it manages companies and real estate complexes – including a luxury resort in Sardinia And an impressive hunting estate in Krasnoyarskin Siberia, a favorite vacation spot of prominent Russian officials, including Governor Alexander Uss -, complexes in which Uss’s family members, such as his wife, are also interested Maria Yagodina.
The examination of the telephones of previous arrestees, of the presences in hotels and luxury lodges, of the plane boardings and of the geolocation cells lead the Milanese investigators to believe that it was Chirakadze a keep in touch with the Uss family during house arrest and others coordinate the members of the band, led by Srdan Lolic, who then facilitated Uss’ escape.
Dmitry Chirakadze was arrested by the carabinieri at Fiumicino airport, coming from Olbia. Will be questioned in the next few hours before the investigating judge of Milan, Sara Cipolla. The charge for him is procured evasion in competition aggravated by transnationality.
