848 of the fifth classes of secondary schools will have their final exams starting on Wednesday 19th with the written Italian test.

It is among the data reeled off by the councilor for the education system Jean-Pierre Guichardaz who, in a press conference together with the superintendent of studies Marina Feytook stock of the school year just ended and the school system in Valle d’Aosta.

There will be 25 examination commissions involving 230 commissioners.

He then anticipated that the 2024-25 school year will be inaugurated in Gressan in the Monte Emilius 3 educational institution “to also enhance the artistic work of Giuliana Cunéaz”.

In the 2023-24 school year, 13,940 Aosta Valley residents attended lessons – 186 fewer than last year – of which 3,542 from middle school and 5,587 from high school, while the 2,473 children from nursery school – between 3 and 6 years old – will finish their educational activities on Friday 28 June.

Investments

Councilor Guichardaz underlined «the attention towards schools so much so that the regional report makes the figure of 6 million available for school buildings. In the last three years we have increased the sum to be transferred to local authorities for the management of educational institutions sixfold. They will be able to invest in important interventions to make school buildings safe and high-quality.”

Guichardaz then spoke of a «system attentive to the inclusion and support of the vulnerable. The Region makes 13 million euros available for support operators. The course for support teachers with UniVdA is confirmed and we will relaunch the one for pedagogical educators.” He recalled the recent Councours Cerlogne which involved over 1,200 students.

The appointment with VdA Orienta is confirmed «the exhibition to guide young people in the conscious choice of their future is now a consolidated reality» he specified. Guichardaz claimed «a school of the highest level, inclusive, multilingual, attentive to small realities. For us, even classes with 3 students must be supported.”

He then announced “the strengthening of psychological support in schools with the aim that we all have a listening point to prevent or deal with youth malaise”.

Superintendent Fey emphasized the fact that the results of the Invalsi admission tests “will not influence the results of the state exam but will be noted in a specific section of the student’s CV”.

The managers competition

He then took stock of the competition for managers. «The commission is meeting and the aspiring managers have already taken the French test. We await instructions from the Ministry of Education on the date of the written test. If it is in July we plan to close by August 31st. If the date were to slip to September or October we will still have the regents (9 last year ed.)”.

Councilor Guichardaz added: “We have every interest in covering the regencies, but we depend on the ministry which we hope will unlock the Italian test.”
