Vassilia Sacco and Ivan Schmidt, these are the names of the prestigious instructors who this weekend (15/16.06.2024) will assist the first K9 Triad Mantrailing – which will be held in beautiful Trieste. The search event for missing persons with the help of dog units is organized by the Ivan Schmidt Academy of the same name in collaboration with K9 Mantrailing Trieste Sniff & GO (Roberta Millini and Stefano Vidonis)
The event will include a training tour with a series of missing person search exercises which will involve the shopping center (Montedoro Shopping Center) from which a person appears to have disappeared to arrive both in the urban center and in the wooded area, all this both during the day and at night.
Thus Ivan Schmidt: – “Thanks to the perfect synergy between all parties it was possible to organize this important training event in the search for missing persons. In particular, the exercise will involve multiple sectors at the same time for the first time, effectively bringing everything to a higher level The Ivan Schmidt Academy will demonstrate with new search techniques (Gate Closing) developed recently, how it is possible to facilitate the search in a site such as a crowded shopping center, as well as then move the searches to urban and wooded areas, even at night. The cases show us that, in addition to timely intervention, the knowledge of how to act in research in different environments (urban, extra-urban and forested) is fundamental. We had another important piece with our creation of the “K9 SCENT BOX”. ” which today turns out to be a perfect ally in the search for missing people and allows us to collect in advance an olfactory imprint of people at risk and more vulnerable. Designed to be easy to use and accessible to all, it eliminates delays in collecting scent evidence to be provided to the dog while minimizing the risk of contamination.”

Ivan Schmidt, Dog Trainer Professional, K9 Mantrailing Master Instructor, Missing and Criminal Profiler and recently completed the “Operational Negotiator in Hostile Environment” training, recognized by NATO, has over 50 operational interventions under his belt as a Judicial Police Auxiliary , Technical Consultant and former Member of Italian and foreign Dog Units, currently directs, together with Vassilia Sacco, the training of the Mantrailing Dog Units of the Green Cross of Cumiana and Ivan Schmidt Academy. Ivan Schmidt was among the first to bring Mantrailing as a discipline to Italy, as well as a pioneer of the inclusion of correct profiling within the Civil Protection Dog Units and co-creator together with Dr. Vassilia Sacco of the K9 SCENT BOX, a kit for collecting the olfactory imprint of people at risk of disappearing. He is an internationally renowned teacher and holds seminars throughout Europe. In 2018 awarded the International Dog Award.
