It was presented in the council room of Palazzo dei Priori the summer edition of the Viterbo Carnival 2024scheduled for Friday 28th. Speakers: Chiara Frontini, Alfonso Antoniozzi, Lucio Matteucci, Daniela Merlini and Antonella Ferretti, Alessandra Croci and Marco Ciorba.
Mayor Frontini opened the presentation by stating that “the initiative is an example of how the people of Viterbo want to make the city live with initiatives characterized by joy and solidarity”.
The vice mayor Antoniozzi wanted to tell how Lucio and Daniela showed up at the office asking exclusively for the patronage of the Municipality to give the city a fun event. Lucio Matteucci artistic director, with Daniela Merlini and Antonella Ferretti, members of the organizational staff, illustrated the phases of the 2024 Summer Carnival, the scenography and the masked groups that will be present on 28 June.
This year the procession will start from Piazza San Lorenzo where there will be the opportunity to participate in a charity dinner for “Sofia”.
Matteucci also announced that a group from Ronciglione will be present which he defined as “carnivals par excellence”.
Councilor Croci illustrated the inclusive aspect of the initiative, as a group with the theme “Dreaming on the flying carpet” will be present, the adventures of the gentle giant who owns the magic lamp. Furthermore, both Croci and the Mayor thanked the ladies of the Pilastro Social Center for their availability in creating the costumes.
Merlini and Ferretti explained the program in detail: gathering at 7.30 pm in Piazza San Lorenzo, then around 9.30 pm the masked procession will leave towards Piazza della Morte, via San Lorenzo, piazza del Plebiscito, via Roma, Corso Italia, piazza del Teatro, via Marconi and final stop at Piazza dei Caduti and Unità d’Italia (Sacrium).
There will be around 150 participants, the stilt walker will also be present. The organized groups will be those of the Magical World of Fairy Tales, the Girandolini, the Hot Air Balloons, Mauro Dance, the Pilastro cultural association, the Meduse, the Zumbere.
