Drought and water crisis in Basilicata: Lazazzera questions President Bardi

We receive and publish a note sent to us by Mario Lazazzera on the water crisis affecting Basilicata. Lazazzera underlines to President Bardi the unsustainable situation:

“I pointed out to President Bardi the unsustainable situation caused by the drought and the poor planning of water management by the Reclamation Consortium which once again did not plan the supply of the same well in such a way as to satisfy the real needs of the farms already on their knees due to the drought which is causing considerable damage to crops.

A situation made even worse by the lack of maintenance of the infrastructure necessary for water collection which during the winter was unable to store the little water that fell from the sky and by the crumbling condition of the never renewed consortium water network.

Once again the consortium’s planning proves to be fallacious and not very prudent, so much so that in such a critical situation it was decided to carry out banal maintenance work which further limited the supply of water in an already water crisis situation, work which could be carried out in a more logical manner in the autumn period so as not to further complicate the situation.

President Bardi, already aware of the reported problem, has assured his personal commitment to resolve the issue and confirm his closeness to the agricultural world once again hit by disasters and inefficiencies”.
