The 10 CONAD finalists announced JAZZ CONTEST who will perform live on the Umbria Jazz stage
Nine finalists were selected by the technical jury, while the tenth was chosen by the popular jury.
The young jazz talents thus selected will perform on the prestigious stage of Umbria Jazz (Perugia, 12-21 July 2024) to win the final prize of €5,000.
Conad and the Umbria Jazz Foundation, on the hunt for jazz talent for 11 years with the Conad Jazz Contest, announce the ten finalists who will compete for the title of 2024 winner with live performances on the Umbria Jazz stage (Perugia, 12-21 July 2024).
The nine bands selected by the Technical Jury – EnTropé, Igor Senderov Quartet, Marco Ullstein Quintet, Nineveh, Saihs, Scannapieco – Geremia 5et, The New Sextet Quartet, VMV trio and YEMENS– together with the tenth finalist band selected by the Popular Jury – FEMEA 5ET – they will perform live on Conad internship of the Carducci Gardens in Perugia within the official program of Umbria Jazz, starting from 15 July 2024.
The technical jury chaired by Manuele Morbidinisaxophonist and composer as well as musical director of the Umbria Jazz Orchestra, selected 9 of the 10 finalists after a great deal of listening to the over 270 songs in the competition, noting the participation of many talented people.
Almost 60,000 votes were cast by the People’s Jury, of which over 8,200 were assigned to the FEMEA 5ET, tenth finalist band and recipient of the voucher worth €500 to be used in a recording studio by the end of 2024.
The finalists’ performances will take place on the “Conad internship” of the central Carducci Gardens, in the afternoon of 15, 16 and 17 July and will be evaluated by the artistic jury chaired by Stefano BragattoDirector of Radio Monte Carlo, who at the end of all the finalists’ live performances will decide the overall winner of the Contest live on radio from the mobile studio in Piazza della Repubblica, along Corso Vannucci, in Perugia on 17 July.
The winner of the Conad Jazz Contest 2024 will win the final prize of €5,000 as a career contribution and will be able to perform in a dedicated tour organized by Umbria Jazz between summer 2024 and spring 2025 on the most prestigious jazz stages around Italy .
The Conad Jazz Contest is an initiative of Conad, historic partner of the Umbria Jazz Festival, which has always been careful to offer opportunities to the most deserving young people and promote the diffusion of culture as a common heritage, both through the sponsorship of projects promoted by third parties and through initiatives carried out autonomously and directly, as part of its concrete sustainability strategy “Let’s support the future” based on three dimensions: environment and resources, people and communities, businesses and territory.
