Messina celebrated Giuseppa Squadrito’s hundredth birthday. For the occasion, the mayor Federico Basile visited the house of the new centenarian, bringing her the best wishes of the municipal administration and the city. A gesture that he wanted to celebrate not only a life milestone, but also a “historical” figure of the Messina community.
Born in Porto Empedocle, Giuseppa moved to Messina with her family when she was still a child. Here she built her life, becoming an elementary school teacher, a point of reference for many generations. With two children, four grandchildren and a great-grandchild, Giuseppa has always represented the heart of her family, dedicating herself with love and dedication to all her loved ones.
During the visit, the mayor presented Giuseppa with a commemorative plaque, praising her lucidity and vitality despite the one hundred year milestone. “Grandma Giuseppa is an incredibly lucid and active person” declared Basile. “It’s always exciting to celebrate such important birthdays. I congratulate her entire family and offer her my best wishes on behalf of the entire City and great serenity for the coming years.”
