Calderone: “Strategic corporate welfare by country”

(Adnkronos) – The 2024 PMI Welfare Index allows us to “think about the strategic importance of corporate welfare in our country, as well as the function that Generali carries out through the Welfare Index. The ability of our economic system to make a qualitative leap towards innovation leads to greater productivity and added value, with the result of making businesses more competitive and improving working conditions. Greater productivity means being able to define, through contracts, higher remuneration and at the same time better career prospects and working conditions”. Thus the Minister of Labor and Social Policies, Marina Calderone, in a message sent to the presentation today in Rome of Generali Italia’s ‘PMI 2024 Welfare Index Report’ on the state of welfare in small and medium-sized Italian companies, now in its eighth edition.

“Welfare Index – continued the minister – has the merit of focusing on small and medium-sized enterprises, the backbone of the Italian economy which must be analyzed from two points of observation. The potential that derives from the ability of companies to aggregate into networks, supply chains and districts, and to thus constitute the pivot of Made in Italy productions and services that generate quality,” she underlined.

“And the persistence in sectors with lower added value of conditions in which it is more difficult for small businesses to innovate and therefore invest in improving welfare and working conditions. The awareness – he continues – that I believe we share, is that the leap in quality of our small and medium-sized businesses depends on the willingness and ability to invest in corporate welfare services and tools”.

“It is my intention in the next budget law to intervene to strengthen fringe benefits and incentives for corporate welfare linked to productivity” he concluded.
