Padua: The Signs of the Soul, II edition

The initiative, promoted by the Department of Culture of the Municipality – Civic Museums of Padua, with the patronage of the Triveneto Penitentiary Administration Department, of the Club for UNESCO, with the support of the Rotary Club of Verona and Inner Wheel Club of Padua ( 2 CARF), collects the works of the prisoners involved in the project The Sounds of Beautya laboratory created by Maestro Nicola Guerini That enhances the perceptive path through listening to music: a listening that generates signs and creative narratives fixed on the sheets with the use of colors. They are signs that speak of pain, of failure but also of emotion and smiles that light up like lights on the paper, becoming imprints of a rebirth.

Nicola Gueriniconductor and active popularizer, for years he has promoted listening to music as an immersive experience in penitentiary institutionsstimulating not only the emotional and instinctive dimension of the prisoner, but also involving him in an introspective approach based on the understanding and internalization of the re-education process experienced in prison.

The project, under the aegis of the Rotary Club of Verona, has become a protocol with the Padua Superintendency (2021) for 16 penitentiary institutions in the Triveneto area.

THE EXHIBITION – The Signs of the soul. The music and the suggestions of the water, open to the public until the morning of Sunday 23 June, have been created with the curatorship of Silvia Prelz, Maurizio Longhin and Guerini himselfin collaboration with Maurizio Bruno. The exhibition includes the display of over 40 works created with mixed mediacollected in the penitentiary institutions of Padua, Treviso and this year also in the women’s prison in Venice, where the inmates produced drawings born from immersive listening to famous symphonic pages: a large chromatic mosaic resulting from the notes of Smetana, Ravel , Morricone, Debussy and many others, whose tiles are emotional maps of an individual and authentic “feeling”. read the rest of the article”

The visitor will be guided by the gestures of the lines, by the chromatic richness of the shapes, words that tell their journey into their own inner sea. A place made of abysses but also of lights that are reflected in the mirrored textures.

The works will also be visible in detail on a monitor, to offer an immersive experience in color through the suggestion of sounds.

Atinauguration, in addition to Andrea Colasio, Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Padua, and Francesca Veronese, director of the Civic Museums, authorities and collaborators of the project will intervene including Senator Andrea Ostellari, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Justice; Dr. Rosella Santoro Regional Penitentiary Administrator for Veneto – Friuli Venezia Giulia – Trentino Alto Adige; Tindara Inferrera, Institutional Relations Manager for the Sounds of Beauty project; Maestro Nicola Guerini, conductor and creator of the I Suoni della Bellezza laboratory; the doctor Claudio Mazzeo, Director of the Padua Prison; the doctor Alberto Quagliotto, Director of the Treviso Prison; Dr. Maria Grazia Bregoli, Director of the Women’s Prison in Venice. At the end of the inauguration in the Sala del Romanino, a visit to the exhibition at Palazzo Zuckermann will follow. The exhibition will remain open until the morning of Sunday 23 June.
