“The Prato Centrale station would be really beautiful. I would even go so far as to say that people around us would envy it, but unfortunately that’s not the case. Why? The outside is very badly maintained. Words from a resident who sees all the train stations with her own eyes every day. various problems”. The testimony comes from those who have always lived in the area and who are now fed up with the state of the square.

“We’re talking about a station that should be renovated, starting from its external part. I’m referring to the green space and in particular to the fountain, which needs maintenance – the thoughts of the citizen reporter who contacted us – The garden has been completely let go and it is not cared for. The bushes are full of waste of all kinds, including condoms and diapers, and every now and then I saw mice passing by.” However, environmental degradation is not the only problem: “It is no mystery that this area has long been plagued by drug dealing and prostitution. Even if both have reduced compared to the pre-Covid period, this does not mean that they have disappeared. Since they sent them to Prato, the military comes to check, but in practice they can’t do anything. I have turned to the police several times to report the noise and confusion, yet the situation has never changed”, she says the resident who also exposed the critical issues to the municipal administration.

“I spoke with councilor Sanzò and he showed me the master plan: the redevelopment of the station is planned, but in the meantime it wouldn’t take much to improve things. Just a little more attention and maintenance, starting from the fountain”.
