PESARO – «First day as mayor, what a thrill. I will dialogue with the Region, I have maintained good relations with everyone. I spent nine years in Ancona, this is an advantage for the city.” First the proclamation, in a well-attended ceremony in the Red Hall of the Municipality, then Andrea Biancani “tested out” his new office as mayor, sitting in the desk previously occupied by Matteo Ricci, who handed over the leadership of the city to him with the formal handover and making him wear the tricolor sash. Thus began the first day as mayor for Biancani, who undoubtedly appeared excited. And he also expressed this state of mind.
The result
«Exciting first day of school – he said – I am very happy, first of all with the result obtained. A result that we can define as historic, reaching over 60% was very difficult. We carried out a blanket election campaign, throughout the city, among the people, among the working people. We went to visit companies, artisans, traders, entrepreneurs, trade unions and the various trade associations. We very often stopped citizens on the street, with whom we spoke. We collected many ideas and proposals, even if we started with a very clear program that we had shared with all seven lists that supported me.”
«An important program, but one that we will increase. Walking down the street people stop me and compliment me, and this is certainly pleasing – continues Biancani – It’s certainly an important day, I made the first positive threats to Ricci, I’m happy that he is a European parliamentarian, it’s not just important for the city of Pesaro, but for the entire regional territory. But I told him that if you go you need to bring me some money, there are many things to do, many open construction sites, there are many resources, but they won’t be enough. It will be increasingly important to be able to have other resources to complete all the construction sites to think of new projects for the city. It is our intention to demonstrate that the good governance that has existed in recent years, which I will be able to carry forward, is a positive thing for all citizens. And our goal is to be able to reconquer the rest of the territory too.”
The past
Strengthened by his past as a regional councilor, first in the majority and then in the opposition, he claims the role that will bring positive developments in the relationship between the Region and the Municipality which, in recent times, has not always been roses and violets especially in the recent banter between Ricci and president Acquaroli. «My relationship with the centre-right municipalities and with the Region will be positive – explains Biancani – because we have a public role, we must have good relations between us. The thing that can benefit the city of Pesaro is having a mayor who has been in the Region for nine years and who can make it profitable. In this time I have also developed relationships with managers, in addition clearly to relationships with the political class, which I will also use to try to share the main choices for the city of Pesaro.”
