Terni, in via Battisti opens the Punto Viola for victims of gender violence

TERNI – «The Punto Viola represents a safe and welcoming refugewhere people who are victims of gender violence can find listening, support to deal with difficult and uncomfortable situations. The objective is to activate the individual citizen in combating gender violence starting from the territory and from building a network that can support the victims. Thanks to the collaboration with expert professionals, the Bianchi pharmacy, which I thank for its willingness to become Punto Viola, we will offer people in difficulty the right to live in serenity and dignity.”

Tommaso Agabiti, president of the Rotaract club Terni, rproudly reports the opening of the first Punto Viola in the city in the premises of the Bianchi pharmacy in via Battisti.

It is part of the association’s national project Women x Street, the non-profit that deals with violence against women and street safety, and is supported by Rotaract district 2090 and the Rotaract club of Terni.

To date, 400 Punti Viola have already opened throughout Italy to guarantee safety and gender equality, and in Terni there is now a place where victims of violence, women and men, can ask for help. From north to south, bars, restaurants, pharmacies, and beauty centers have joined the project, transforming themselves into places where victims can find support and a safe haven while waiting to be taken care of specifically.

In Terni the pharmacy staff, made up of a lawyer and a psychologist from the Donne x Strada association, is ready to provide support to those in need.

The Punto Viola in via Battisti, which opens today at 6.30 pm, will be a daily point of reference and free access, a place that can be understood as first aid and short transit of people who need support and who will then be directed to the places designated for the care of their various needs.

«This inauguration – says Tommaso Agabiti – is the fruit of a collective commitment and a profound conviction: every individual has the right to be protected and respected. We sincerely thank those who contributed to the realization of this project: the Donne x Strada association, the Bianchi pharmacy, all the members of Rotaract Terni, the sponsors and the institutions”.

The Purple Point will be a beacon of hope, a place where rebuild your life and find the strength to look forward. A safe haven for those in need of support and concrete help.
