PESCARA. The civic path launched by continues Domenico Pettinari with his candidacy for mayor of Pescara. The outcome of the municipal elections rewarded his choice, with 13.08% of the preferences. «In the history of Pescara, such a high percentage from a civic formation has never been recorded», specifies the former regional councilor. «An important network is being created, which will gradually expand», he announces, «because we want to move forward in a structured way, ready to face the next challenges, both at a provincial and regional level». Therefore, a future candidacy cannot be ruled out when it becomes necessary to govern New Pescara. And he adds: «Many small municipalities in the province of Pescara, but not only small ones, have asked me to submit their candidacy for the next administrative elections with the Pettinari brand, so we will certainly support the civic coalitions that recognize themselves in our values».
In analyzing the result of the vote on 8 and 9 June, which now sees him enter the city council together with Massimiliano Di Pillo (319 preferences) and others Stefania D’Amico (202), Pettinari announces «a tough and intransigent opposition, different from that carried out by the center-left in the last five years. The reasons for confirming the outgoing mayor at the helm of the city are also to be found in the fact that the minority was not tough enough”, she specifies. «If there had been an opposition capable of transmitting all the political misdeeds of this administration to the outside, Masci would have stopped at 30%. The low turnout also influenced the final outcome, because in reality the mayor was re-elected by one part of the city.”
On the relationships to be established with the other minority forces Pettinari clearly says: «There will be dialogue with everyone, we are not aliens. There will be those who will try to implement the requests and proposals of our political team.”
«I will fight», says the new councilor Stefania D’Amico, «for the restoration of legality in the peripheral neighborhoods, proposing for example the detachment of the municipal police in the marginal areas. I have always lived in San Donato and I know well what the main critical issues of a neighborhood are, where degradation and abandonment prevail, even if the administration pretends not to understand, and where it is difficult to sleep at night”, says D’ Friend, dog technician, in politics for the first time.
«I will also deal with a topic linked to my profession: the protection of the animal world», says Di Pillo, former councilor during the years of the Alessandrini administration. Di Pillo says he is ready to work, alongside Pettinari and D’Amico, “for the good of the city, trying to materialize the proposals included in the electoral programme”.
