There wasn’t the crowd of special occasions but the spectacle certainly wasn’t lacking. The first day of the 2024 edition of Firenze Rocks was a crescendo of emotions in front of an audience coming from every corner of Italy and beyond since there were also spectators from Greece and Argentina as well as Americans.
The icing of the day at the Visarno Arena was certainly the return of Avenged Sevenfold after 6 years of absence.
But they weren’t the only ones who sent the public into raptures.
The opening group, Cemetery Sun, immediately sent the dopamine skyrocketing by opening the dance at 4.30pm. The American band, comparable to artists of the caliber of Twenty One Pilots and Linkin Park, with its unfiltered lyrics – above all Fake Love, record holder for the number of plays on Spotify on Spotify – combined with the Californian radiance, enthralled those present, starting a a day that promised to be a crescendo of emotions.
The British duo Bob Vylan, with its unique sounds that blend different musical genres between rock, punk, rap, dance and alternative, have raised the bar with its frontman who – as in the best rock concerts – also launched himself into the audience and got carried away as he continued to sing. Numerous songs from “Bob Vylan Presents The Price Of Life”, a record that won the Kerrang award as best album of 2022, which the band played during its performance.
The last ‘course’ before the grand finale was served by Bowling for Soup. The Texan punk rock band, also nominated for a Grammy and which has attracted thousands of appearances during its European and North American tours over the decades, put on a show oscillating between old and new pieces, involving and becoming one with the audience
Then the long, long-awaited grand finale. At 9.30 pm sharp, Avenged Sevenfold entered the stage loudly called by those present, making their only Italian stage memorable. From Game Over to Afterlife, through Hail To The King, Nobody and the inevitable Nightmare and Mattel, the band made those present go wild until the last second of a concert defined by most as unforgettable.
And now, on to the grand finale: on June 15th, the Tools arrive.
