RAGUSA – The funeral of Gianni Cascone and Giusy Polizzi, the 2 musicians and teachers aged 56 and 53 who died in the terrible road accident which occurred in the night between last Saturday and Sunday, near the bridge, was celebrated on Thursday morning in the cathedral of San Giovanni in Ragusa. Costanzo, on Ragusa Modica. The funeral saw the participation of many people who wanted to pay their respects to the 2 musicians. Also present was the orchestra made up of all my fellow musicians. The funeral was officiated by the parish priest of the church of San Giovanni Maria Vianney, Don Giuseppe Iacono. Concelebrants will be the parish priest of Giarratana Don Francesco Mallemi and the parish priest of the Cathedral Don Giuseppe Burrafato. Also present among the institutional authorities was the mayor of Ragusa Peppe Cassì.
The couple was well known for their professional activity. The two were traveling on a motorbike headed for Ragusa, returning from an evening in Scicli, when, for reasons to be ascertained, they had a head-on collision with a Renault Clio driven by a 28-year-old from Modica and headed for Modica, at of the flyover preceding the Costanzo viaduct. The 28-year-old who was driving the car is hospitalized at Giovanni Paolo II in Ragusa with a reserved prognosis, but her life is not in danger. Disbelief and dismay at the tragic news. Our heartfelt condolences and an affectionate hug which cannot replace that of their parents but shows how much we love them go to the 2 children who are experiencing this tragedy today, which takes their parents away from them.”
