L’Automobile Club of Caltanissetta was the protagonist of the organization of a stage rich in culture, tradition and passion, which featured a new appointment, Sunday 16 June, with Wheels in History. The latter is the event, of a motoring-cultural nature, born from ACI Historical assisted by Automobile Club of Italy.
To maintain faith in the spirit of territorial promotion and valorization of vintage motoring, each with its own history and charm, the Nisseno body chaired by Carlo Alessi with the direction of Rita Caruso offered an evocative journey on the Via dei Castelli which led up to Deliahistoric municipality founded at the end of the 16th century and rich in traditions.

-“Combining the culture of motoring with that of the territory, its beauty and its traditions – the lawyer wanted to highlight. Carlo AlessiPresident of the Automobile Club Caltanissetta – This year too we wanted to continue on Via dei Castelli, allowing our participants to discover villages and towns of great charm and charm. We are grateful to Delia, al Mayor and to his squad for welcoming us with such warmth and enthusiasm.”-

Caltanissetta, as well as its entire Province, proudly carry forward their passion for motoring, as evidenced by Nissena Cup historic local race. And this spirit and this participation are also manifested in the excellent success of events dedicated to the culture of motoring just like Wheels in History.
Numerous extremely beautiful cars were present at the event and among the priceless models there were also exclusive Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia, Ferrari and Porsche. Among the fascinating cars entered, a real gem was the Fiat Barchetta 1100 Sport built in 1945 by Michele Tornatorein his workshop in Via Gramsci in Caltanissetta with the collaboration of Diego Pugliese And Giuseppe Tollini. The car was built on an 1100 base but with an upside down chassis and components from other cars and competed there Targa FlorioThe Tour of Sicily and many other races in Sicily.

The day’s program included a first gathering in Caltanissetta and then leaving for Delia, where the cars met in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele after being welcomed by the Mayor of Delia Filippo Bancheri and by the President of AC Caltanissetta himself Carlo Alessi. During the event there was no lack of a moment recalling the local culinary tradition with the tasting of the ‘Cuddrureddra‘, a particular Delia biscuit created with simple ingredients from peasant culture.
Participants in the event were able to experience fascinating moments also thanks to visits to the Jewish quarter et al Delia Castle. The latter is an extremely suggestive place also from a naturalistic point of view, because it was built on a rocky spur which constitutes its natural base. What also tied everything together was the convivial moment during which the participants dedicated themselves to a healthy and constructive moment of sharing.

With the enthusiasm and participation that peppered this day of Wheels in History and AC Caltanissetta, all the foundations seem to have been left for a 2025 edition of the event. Meanwhile, the ACI Storico format returns on 23 June 2024 with AC Enna and AC Reggio Emilia.
