The Antiquarium and archaeological park of Canne della Battaglia opens the deposits: conceived and designed not only as places dedicated to the conservation of the archaeological heritage, unknown to non-experts, but also as spaces dedicated to knowledge and sharing, the deposits will be open to the public with a view to participatory use. Once they enter the basement (which will be accessible on Saturday and Sunday from 4.00pm to 6.00pm) visitors will find themselves faced with experimentation places where content is constructed and data is processed.
Furthermore, again on Saturday and Sunday, two guided tours will be organized at the same site (11.00 am and 4.00 pm) of the exhibition in the Antiquarium.
The Committee, which has managed the Stazioncina building and the surrounding areas of relevance since 2002 by agreement with the Ferrovie Italiane Group, with its volunteers will welcome visitors and tourists as the only railway “gate” located in all of Italy serving an archaeological site of world famous on the historic Barletta-Spinazzola line (still closed to traffic due to major works in progress) and therefore reachable from ordinary roads (provincial roads 19 and 21) in the renovated and welcoming picnic areas with guarded car parking where it will also be upgraded separate waste collection in addition to the permanent ecological island installed here.
In recent months the whole area has benefited from the work carried out in agreement between the Municipality (Social Services Sector) and the Employment Center for PUC (Projects useful to the community) until the conclusion of the measures envisaged by the Citizenship Income with the use of the recipients/beneficiaries thus employed with the aim of improving reception. The proximity of the Station will allow an easy free visit from the outside to the Baths of San Mercurio (from the imperial Roman era) and the historic medieval Fountain of San Ruggiero (12th century), as well as the archaeological park and the Antiquarium with the methods provided by that direction.
