Bisceglie-Costa d’Amalfi, playoffs: too bad there is only one promotion!

To start talking about this match, I must necessarily take a step back to the previous match, that Bisceglie-Vigor Lamezia in whose report I guiltyly forgot to mention a banner in memory of Mimmo known as Bob. Former Nerazzurri ultras of that one golden age in which cheering was not a priori evidence of a crime, exactly one year after his death he was honored with a quote from “Io non piango”, an old song by Franco Califano.

On the pitch, the season is now coming to an end. Last matches experienced in the stands, last photographic shots for us too, as we all wait to take a breath and recharge our batteries for the season to come. But that time has not yet come, today Sunday 9 June this very interesting match between Bisceglie and the Amalfi Coast will be played in which, in addition to playing in a double challenge for promotion to Serie D, there are the inevitable points of ultras interest in the mix.

It’s really hot, very high temperatures, lots of sun and lots of humidity characterize this day. If it’s not yet time for everyone to venture on holidays away from home, the beach is certainly a far more popular destination than the hot steps of a stadium. Despite everything, however, the faithful respond as always to this appointment with history.

The dissolution of Ultras Bisceglie still reverberates in the air, unexpected from the outside and which always causes a certain displeasure, especially seeing the sector which saw them as protagonists for twelve years empty. The honor and burden of carrying on the ultras discourse in the city now rests on the shoulders of the Gradinata, which fills up bit by bit but soon appears beautifully full centrally, filling up as time goes by also on the sides.

As the players enter the pitch, the hosts welcome their team with the chant “You have to believe it…” and a simple but pleasant scenography made of Nerazzurri cards. Nice flags always flying, several bombs exploded and good slaps. They are put to the hardest test, exposed as they are to the brutality of the sun, but essentially they never give up for the entire ninety minutes. A few physiological breaks, just to let the uvula rest, but overall theirs was a good performance, which remained so even after the draw against the Amalfi Coast.

The guest presence, however, was simply exciting. Seen in photos a few days earlier, it is the first time ever that I have seen them in action live and I really didn’t expect to find them so effective. They are compacted laterally, almost all bare-chested, they also suffer heat and humidity but offer ninety minutes practically without ever stopping, giving a lot of spectacle and a nice square and powerful support. Handfuls of experience, repeating choruses, dry choruses, but also many continuous and rhymed ones, aided by a drum that is also pleasant to hear. What can I say, congratulations to this group!

On the pitch the match ends with a 1-1 draw which postpones any decision to the return match. It’s a shame that in the end there will only be one promotion up for grabs because both fans have shown that they deserve so much.
