Cagliari is planning the new football season. This morning, the sporting director of the Nereo club Bonato spoke at the press conference taking stock of the market of the Sardinians.
Cagliari, DS Bonato’s statements on the market
The rossoblù sporting director began by talking about the renewals: “We have renewed the contract with Leonardo Pavoletti, he is one of our leaders and whoever hears the door can always be useful. We have also renewed the contract of Kingstone Mutandwa because he is a young man we are banking on. We will carry out the renewal on Yerry Mina to give continuity to the group of guys who worked well. We are reflecting on Viola, Mancosu and Aresti. The latter two have made a certain journey, we will see.”
“We also have clear ideas on the market, but first it will be right to deal with the new coach”, admitted Bonato who continued talking about the missed redemptions: “We did not exercise the redemptions on Shomurodov, Petagna and Oristanio. But we are interested in Oristanio and Inter knows it, we will meet with them again to find the right formula.”
On characteristics of the attacker that he would like to bring to Sardinia: “Numerically, it is the department where we are most in difficulty. Many boys have expired, now we will need a player with the characteristics of a centre-forward, another as a second striker/winger. We are evaluating profiles from the Italian market, but also from outside. We will compare ourselves with the new coach. The door for Shomurodov is not closed, but it has prohibitive costs. We will see under any conditions.”
Finally, on Mina’s future: “A month before the championship ended Yerry came to my office and told me he wanted to stay at Cagliari. He therefore exposed himself to me.”
“The situation is particular because he he has an exit clause of 2 million which is valid until August 15th. But he has expressed his desire to stay here. Of course, if a great offer arrives we will raise our hands”, concluded the DS of Cagliari.
