This is the official press release: “The passage of. is official Douglas Luiz at the Juventus of the 1998 class midfielder who arrives in Turin from Aston Villa definitively, signing a 5 year contract, until 30 June 2029. Douglas Luiz Soares de Paulo was born in Rio de Janeiro in May 1998 and, in terms of football, he trained in the youth team of Vasco da Gama, the club with which he made his first team debut in 2016. With the Rio team de Janeiro made “only” 29 appearances: Douglas, in fact, quickly attracted the attention of the Old Continent. It is Manchester City that brings the 1998 class to Europe, but it is at Girona, where he remains on loan for two seasons, that he plays his first European matches. In Spain he made 46 appearances before moving, subsequently and definitively, to Aston Villa: it is here that Douglas Luiz established himself in international football over the years, also conquering the Brazilian national team with which he made his debut in November 2019. In Birmingham he was a constant evolution: from his importance for the team, to his maturation in all aspects of the game which allows him to be included in the list of the most interesting midfielders in the entire Premier League. With Aston Villa he has made 204 appearances in all competitions, national and international, with 22 goals and 24 assists to his name. In between there was also considerable satisfaction with the Brazilian selection at the latest Tokyo Olympics: a five-hoop event that Douglas Luiz played as a great protagonist and with which he won the gold medal in the Yokohama final won against Spain. Douglas Luiz therefore arrives at Juventus after five seasons played in the Premier League.
