Piacenza, nursing science student saves his grandfather from a heart attack

He feels ill and his nephew who studies nursing sciences saves him. It happened in the province of Piacenza, in Rezzanello di Gazzola, on the morning of June 12th and the story with a happy ending is told by Piacenza with Stefano Pancini. Giorgio Gandolfi, 86 years old, feels ill at home and calls his daughter, saying that she has vomited and that he feels a pain in his chest. But her daughter can’t reach him because she doesn’t have a car, so she calls her son, Stefano Porro, 20 years old, as well as Mr. Giorgio’s nephew who is studying nursing sciences in Parma. The symptoms were those of a heart attack and Stefano, having arrived at his grandfather, understood it immediately, thanks also to the last lessons where this very topic had been discussed, took the portable electrocardiograph he had and activated the 118 emergency services. As soon as the grandfather arrived in the ambulance he went into cardiac arrest, but thanks to the promptness of his nephew and the paramedics who rushed to the hospital, including one of the boy’s teachers, he was resuscitated. Then Mr. Gandolfi was urgently transported to the emergency room of the Guglielmo da Saliceto Hospital in Piacenza: here they performed a coronary angioplasty with stent implantation to restore blood flow.
