There professor Anna Nuceraformer Headmaster of the ITI “Panella Vallauri”, is the new President of the Serra Club of Reggio Calabria, Calabria – Sicily District and will lead the partnership for the next two years. Last Tuesday during the last convivial closing of the 2023/24 Social Year, the traditional delivery of the Campanella took place in the refectory room of the Pius XI Archbishop’s Seminary, between Orestes Archonoutgoing, and Anna Nucera, incoming, in the presence of the Rector Don Nino Pangallo, the Serrano members from Reggio, the Daughters of the Queen of the Rosary nuns serving at the Pius XI Seminary, the seminarians and their teachers and trainers.
The meeting
The meeting began as per tradition, with the Serrano Holy Mass concelebrated by Don Nino Pangallo, Don Emmanuel Mbamba, Vice-Rector, Don Blaise Maurice Mbaruschingabire, Prefect of Studies and Don Angelo Battaglia, Spiritual Director, in the Major Chapel dedicated to St. . Paul, founder of the Church of Reggio in 61 AD during his stop in Reggio during his journey to Rome. Immediately after the Mass, Father Pasquale Triulcio briefly presented the volume “Memory of a past to build a future: Mons. Paolo Giunta”, edited by Msgr. Can. Ercole Lacava. Monsignor Paolo Giunta (Archi RC 24.3.1904- RC 21.9.1990) was Honorary Prelate of His Holiness and Dean of the Metropolitan Chapter of the Archdiocese of Reggio. His commitment at diocesan and regional level as director of works of charity was tireless.
Committed to the religious, civil and moral education of young people, he held, among others, the position of assistant of the FUCI and archbishop’s delegate for women and female youth. Prudent and wise collaborator and advisors of all the bishops who followed one another during his life in the diocese of Reggio Calabria. The nephew, lawyer. Franco Giunta wanted to pay homage to the volume to all young seminarians.
Archon’s thanks
In his final report, the outgoing president Arconte wanted to thank the people of Serrano for the trust they have placed in him. Four intense years of my double mandate, underlined Arconte, of great work done with enthusiasm and in harmony with the Board of Directors and the members, for the care in all its aspects of the Pius XI Seminary, but above all of the young seminarians, both diocesan ones , that those from Africa and Madagascar have been coming to train in our Reggio seminary for years. A work that had its culmination in the celebrations for the twentieth anniversary of the Serranos in Reggio Calabria, the lottery, the meeting with the parishes and with the Reggio Calabria Service Clubs, the theatrical performances and cultural personalities to make history known thousand years of the apostolic church of Reggio and its centuries-old seminary, the first to arise in Calabria in 1465, after the Council of Trent.
Every effort made with the heart to make the Archbishop Pius A place and a structure that must preserve, despite the choices of the Calabrian bishops on the indication of the Holy See to concentrate the three years of Theology in Catanzaro and leave the first two years of philosophy in Reggio, its spiritual and educational function at the service of the Archdiocese Reggina and the community of the faithful under the guidance of its Pastor.
