OLBIA. Come on “Short fragments” arrived at “Daily drifts” to put words and their essentiality at the center. “It comes as a synonym of uncontrollable tendency – this is how his latest book explains Francesco Giua, 27 years old, from Olbia -. I put everyday life on paper because it represents unique spaces and stories of each of us. I write poems because they give the opportunity to feel how grateful one can be to life for the gift of words.”

Produced by the Polisse Fiabe e Poesie publishing house and edited by Annalea Vallesi, in “Daily Derives”, one hundred poems, two stories and a decalogue, the author from Olbia abandons the refined lexical structures present in the previous book to leave room for simplicity. “It doesn’t mean taking away from poetry that sacredness capable of narrating reality and even sublimating it – he says – but rather resorting to words that express interiority and carnality, and not mastery of abstruse terms. Poetry is done to communicate and communicate, not to show oneself in the eyes of others. There are those who remain in their spontaneity missionary of the word and I think this is the true mission to which we are called every day: the free gift of words.”

Francesco Giua is also part of the contemporary poets who spread poetry through social media, led by the Neapolitan Davide Avolio who with over 400 thousand followers on Instagram offers his audience well-known and unpublished verses every day. “The thing that makes me happy – comments the 27-year-old from Olbia – is seeing that there are poets capable of reaching young and less young audiences through the use of social media. We need to rekindle interest in this art that seems distant or simply an exercise in style. It’s not about making poetry “social” but about giving space in the “world of likes” to creations in verse that can reach people immediately.”
