Cagliari, not just Pavoletti. Bonato: “We also renewed Kingstone’s contract”

Press conference day at Cagliari, with the sporting director of the Sardinian club Nereo Bonato which takes stock of the present, future and market. “This is the right moment to take stock and understand what we have done and what we can do”, underlined the manager who focused – among the various topics – also on the issue of renewals and redemptions: “We then renewed the contract with Leonardo Pavoletti, he is one of our leaders and whoever feels the door can always be useful. We have also renewed Kingstone’s contract (Mutandwa, striker born in 2003, ed.), because he is a young man we are also aiming for market, but first it will be right to deal with the new coach. We have not exercised the redemptions on Shomurodov, Petagna and Oristanio. We will exercise the renewal on Yerry Mina to give continuity to the group of guys who have worked well.”

Are there any goals you have identified?
“We have some ideas, but we will have to share them with the new coach. This is a squad that will have to be shored up, improved. We will see what the market offers us. There could be some departures, but according to adequate offers.”

Will you also focus on young players currently on loan in the lower categories?
“We have interesting guys who have gone to gain experience. Some have done particularly well and will be evaluated. At the moment there is great serenity because the squad is not excessively numerous.”

The renewals. “We are reflecting on Viola, Mancosu and Aresti. The latter two have completed a certain path, we will see.”

Luperto and Marin possible incoming names? What names could leave Cagliari?
“It’s still early, we’ll see.”

Can you give an identikit of the attacker you are going to look for?
“Numerically, it is the department where we are most in difficulty. Many boys have expired, now we will need a player with the characteristics of a centre-forward, another as a second striker-winger. We are evaluating profiles from the Italian market, but also from outside. We will compare ourselves with the new coach. Shomurodov? It’s not a closed door. Now we’ll see any conditions.”

Does Mina want to stay in Cagliari or is she looking at the transfer market? “A month before the championship ended, Mina came to my office and told me he wanted to stay at Cagliari. He has already exposed himself to me. The situation is particular because he has an exit clause of 2 million which is valid until August 15th. But he has expressed his desire to stay here. Of course, if a great offer arrives we will raise our hands.”
