Lamezia Terme – National Utopia Festival, first intense day with artists and companies from all over Italy who offered moments of entertainment at the Grandinetti municipal theatre. To welcome the artists of the festival, the musicians of the “Ottopiù street band” and the actors on stilts who did the honors together with the Teatrop company from Lamezia, organizer of the event. Among sounds, colors and a lot of enthusiasm, yesterday’s program saw all the artists of the event who staged the ‘pills of Utopia’ gather in the foyer of the Grandinetti. The performance “Cinderella, A slipper for three” was much appreciated edited by Matutateatro; a piece that saw many children and parents join hands to watch the retelling of the famous Cinderella fairy tale. A truly commendable performance by the three lead actresses; a high-level theatrical work that won the critics’ prize at the Padua children’s theater festival. In the evening, the Grandinetti foyer hosted the meeting “Theaters without borders” with the artists of Utopia who spoke about their professional experience lived in Ukraine a few months ago.
Today, the second day, Utopia continues: at 3pm, in the foyer of the Grandinetti, the production of the Teatro del Drago is scheduled “Ecommonster”. At 6pm, young and old will be able to attend the “Return of Oz”, a show also awarded at the national children’s theater festival in Padua. Tomorrow morning, June 14th, a ‘surprise show’ will be staged at the Costantino farmhouse to conclude the festival. Greta Belometti and Pierpaolo Bonaccurso, artistic directors of Teatrop renew their invitation to children and parents to take part in the shows on the bill, works expressly dedicated to family theatre. Please note that the Calabria Region actively supports the special project of Lamezia, of which the Utopia Festival (an acronym meaning “Union of operational theaters for children and adolescents) is one of the dedicated events. In fact, the “National Festival of Utopia ’24” is co-financed with PSC resources (Development and Cohesion Plan 6.02.02) provided as a result of the Notice of Special Projects for the development of theatrical activity of the Calabria Region – Education and Training Department and Equal Opportunities – Culture Sector.
