Coldiretti Ravenna meets the prefect to illustrate the reasons for the mobilization against the wild boar emergency: “We need a more incisive approach”

“To address the problem of damage caused by wildlife in agriculture, a more incisive approach is needed, a greater commitment on the part of politicians because the presence of wild boars and wild animals, despite the progress made in recent years in the Ravenna area, is not just a problem for farmers, but for everyone”. Illustrating the situation linked to the proliferation of fauna to the Prefect of Ravenna, Castrese De Rosa, during a meeting held in the morning, President and Director of Coldiretti Ravenna, Nicola Dalmonte and Assuero Zampini, who announced the start of the state of agitation and a mobilization on a national and regional scale aimed at obtaining timely and effective responses to contain the presence of wild boars, wild fauna and fossorial animals.

“We believe – he said Dalmonte – that this has now become a matter of primary importance and urgency, not only for agricultural companies, but for the safety of the entire community. Wild boars represent a growing danger, causing numerous road accidents every year and causing extensive damage to crops and agricultural properties, amounting to approximately 200 million euros/year with a verified population of more than 2.3 million wild boars throughout Italy. . Added to this are the health and economic problems linked to the danger of the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF)”. The agricultural organization therefore requires rapid interventions and the implementation of the extraordinary regional containment plan to guarantee the safety of crops and livestock.

“The meeting with Prefect De Rosa, whom I thank for the attention and availability he has always shown towards these issues – concludes President Dalmonte – represents an important step towards a solution that protects the safety of people and the work of farmers and breeders. As always, Coldiretti is ready to collaborate, also from a technical point of view, to achieve concrete and definitive results as quickly as possible.”
