The school calendar for the year 2024/2025 in the Basilicata region has been officially approved by the regional council. According to the provisions, lessons will begin on 16 September 2024 and end on 10 June 2025 for primary and secondary schools, while for nursery school lessons will end on 30 June 2025.
The proposal
From this year, schools have the possibility of bringing forward the start of lessons by a maximum of three days. This flexibility was introduced to respond to a request from Confindustria Basilicata, which suggested aligning the school calendar with neighboring regions, many of which have set the start of lessons after 12 September. This approach allows the tourist season to be extended, offering economic advantages to operators in the hospitality and seaside sector and allowing families to enjoy holidays in the low season at more advantageous prices.
Lessons
The calendar established by the regional council provides that primary and secondary schools will have a total of 204 lesson days, of which at least 200 will be actual lesson days. For nursery school, 221 days of lessons are scheduled. The provision of the Regional Council also provides for limiting school returns as much as possible for a single day in the presence of close holidays, to facilitate the reconciliation of time between family and work and to meet the needs of service managers and local businesses.
By July 15th, school institutions are required to communicate their calendar to families, local authorities and the regional school management.
