Maverick Viñales lands in Ktm, only the official announcement is missing, but the roads of the Aprilia rider lead straight to Mattighofen, home of the Austrian manufacturer. In 2025 the Spaniard will join the Tech3 team, the official bike and the same colors as the internal team where he will race instead Pedro Acosta. In fact, KTM’s new policy aims to unify its four bikes on the track (two managed directly, the others entrusted to the experience of Herve Poncharal) so as not to create, at least visually, unequal treatment.
It’s the domino effect triggered by Marquez’s move to the Ducati factory team: as was predictable, his entry triggered Martin’s divorce, taken on the spot by Aprilia in place of Aleix Espargaro (leaving by his own choice: at the end season will close with motorbike racing). Vinales, who perhaps expected different treatment, did not find the agreement with Noale that he was hoping for. The wait for his contract to be renewed was a sign of a possible change of heart. In Ktm Maverick should be at his side Enea Bastianini, left stranded by Ducati who would still have preferred one of Martin or Marquez.
The Romagna man and his manager Carlo Pernat they had moved forward, establishing contacts with other teams. The announcement, also in this case, seems to be a matter of hours. The Aprilia box remains empty, but it’s only a matter of time: who will they put in Vinales’ place? Massimo Rivola, CEO of Aprilia Racing, has never hidden the fact that he wants to bring an Italian rider on the RS-GP. The choice could fall on Massimo Bezzecchi or Fabio Di Giannantonio, the two current teammates of Team Ducati VR46.
