Lamezia Terme – Milena Liotta of the Lamezia PD intervenes on what happened yesterday in the Chamber: “the images of the Chamber of Deputies transformed into a ring, right next to the celebration of two giants of Parliament such as Giacomo Matteotti and Enrico Berlinguer, are a punch in the stomach, to use terms close to those shameful scenes.”

“The real problem – according to Liotta – is that before differentiated autonomy there is the dramatic difference between today and “yesterday” which seems very distant, lost, perhaps forever. Enrico Berlinguer was not defeated in a fight, but by political aggression, the daughter of a “hedonistic modernity” that he fought with the “moral question”, with his style and his undeniable composure. Even during the political storms that have swept through his experience, he has maintained a public style that has left its mark.” For this reason, also in light of what has happened, Liotta continues, “figures like that of Berlinguer seem not real, because they are far from a political representation that does not use the confrontation of ideas but squad violence to affirm its “difference” with respect to the reasons of the different areas of the country. Today – let’s tell the whole truth – we are orphans of the elegance of figures like Berlinguer and Matteotti, and we are under the thumb of an aggressive, informal representation ready to fight to assert what they call “differences”. But the first, real, dramatic difference is between the “Berlinguer style” and the aggressive rudeness of these advocates of differentiated autonomy of which we have all had a clear demonstration today. We should all have the ability to express a collective reaction of dignity, affirming style and composure of ideas, raising the bar of the political debate against differentiated autonomy which, if approved, would consecrate the division of the country and this would be for the centre-right majority who governs with haughtiness an unforgivable political, moral and social sin”, concludes Milena Liotta of the Lamezia Terme Democratic Party.
