A completely new area, where the young students of the “Lucia Viano” nursery school – in the Donatello district of Cuneo – will be guaranteed more safety and opportunities for socializing. The inauguration of the new school square in the capital was held at 4pm today (Wednesday 12 June), the second intervention in the city, financed thanks to PNRR funds as part of the “Scuole al Centro” project.
Representatives of the municipal administration (the councillors) were present Luca Pellegrino, Alessandro Spedale, Andrea Girard And Paola Olivero and the advisor Claudio Bongiovanni), the municipal managers of the offices involved, the members of the neighborhood committee with the president of the Consulta Pietro Carluzzo, of the board of Casa del Quartiere, of the MOMO cooperative and of the hospital. The designer was also present Manuela Rosso.
The Municipality: “A challenge won”
“Today is a truly important moment, the culmination of a project in which we believed a lot – commented Pellegrino – . We hope it satisfies you residents as much as it satisfies us. We have transformed what was a simple road into a lively and completely new area dedicated to sociality: as far as we are concerned, a challenge won”.
The deputy mayor cut ours – made by resident children Luca Evening: “I agree with the councilor, clearing an area infested with cars is always a victory. Pedestrianizations often bring with them public opinion that is not in agreement but, then, none of those involved would go back; It is we adults who must change our mentality to allow our little fellow citizens to grow up with the right attention to the environment”.
Neighborhood Committee and House: “Example of teamwork”
As part of the intervention, space was taken away from the roadways of via Rostagni – near the corner between via Bernini and via Donatello -, transforming it into a pedestrian area including a new play area with rubber hemispheres, green areas with trees and furnishing elements, and establishing a new “zone 30” nearby.
The Neighborhood Committee and the management of Casa del Quartiere Donatello, represented respectively by Valerio Graffino And Alberto Ubezio: “This project, which brings a whole new, beautiful and lively area to the city, is a clear demonstration of where we can get with teamwork – they said – . You are lucky, children, to live in this neighborhood, which today is no longer a suburb but almost a town in the center of the city. A transformation brought about by those who live it and believe in it, and by the municipal administrations of the last ten years”.
