State-owned maritime area seized – Corriere di Taranto

In recent days, there have been several sanctions imposed by the men of the Taranto Coast Guard which, with the start of the bathing season, strengthens its presence along the coasts to protect the environment, bathers and navigation safety.

First, in “Verde mare” locality in the municipality of Massafraapproximately 60 square meters of public space were seized maritime state property occupied by a series of completely precarious huts, illicitly used by a traveling food seller.

Such artifacts will be demolished in accordance with a specific provision that will be issued by the competent municipal administration.

A nucleus of highly specialized military personnel in the field of navigation safety it also stopped a flagged vessel Marshall Islands, moored at the Port of Taranto, for serious shortcomings found on board. In consideration of the checks conducted on the life-saving equipment, fire-fighting systems and the training levels of the personnel on board, the unit was found not to comply with the minimum international safety standards, so much so as to require the issuing of an administrative detention order. The ship will be able to resume navigation only after demonstrating that the deficiencies that have emerged have been rectified.

As part of the operation “Safe sea and lakes 2024”, however, a vessel was sanctioned that was sailing dangerously in the strip of sea reserved for bathing (200 meters from the shoreline).

Finally, two were sanctioned poaching fishermen intent on fishing for seafood with gear not permitted within the waters of Little Seaa body of water continuously patrolled by Coast Guard vessels, especially following the establishment of a micro reserve for the repopulation of the sea ​​horses.

The total amount of fines contested amounted to approximately €1,500.
