Former Palermo coach Gennaro Gattuso is the new coach of Hajduk Split. The Croatian club announced it on its official website. “Hnk Hajduk – we read on the portal – is very pleased to confirm that the legendary Gennaro Gattuso will lead our first team in the new season! He has signed a contract until summer 2026 and will arrive in Split next week, at the beginning of the first team’s preparation, when we will officially present him at Poljud”.

In Split Gattuso will meet up with Nikola Kalinic who is the sporting director of Hajduk Split. Kalinic was coached by Gattuso at Milan and Valencia. Gattuso is fresh from his experience at Olympique Marseille which ended with a dismissal.

“In his playing career – writes the Croatian website – he won almost everything that could be won. World champion with Italy in 2006, winner of the Champions League with Milan in 2003 and 2007, twice winner of Serie A, the UEFA Super Cup and the Italian Super Cup, and once won the Club World Championship. Thanks to his playing style, combativeness, intransigence and strong winning mentality, he has become an iconic figure of world football.”
