Lorenzo Lucca had him at Palermo, what do you remember of that period?
“I signed him in Serie D in January from Torino and he played very little but we could see extraordinary things in him on a physical and technical level. The coach didn’t let him play due to inexperience. The following year he started on the bench despite us pushing this boy. With Bari he scored an extraordinary goal and Lucca’s career began from there.”
From that moment he moved to Pisa, but could have gone elsewhere
“Pisa was good at focusing on him. At the beginning he did very well, then he got lost a bit and after that you know the story with the experiences at Ajax and Udinese”.
Do you see him well at Fiorentina?
“Yes and I think he can be the starter, we have to push for these young people and not let them play at 30. I see Lucca as ready for Fiorentina. Today the strikers cost a lot of money, even in Serie B. Lucca has personality and the criticism slips away from him on him, he’s a 2000 player and I think he has incredible room for improvement, he’s a 2-metre player but he’s agile in his movements, he’s not a cumbersome player.”
