Abate leaves Milan: “The time has come to try a new experience”

After two intense years at the helm of the AC Milan Primavera, Ignazio Abate he leaves the Rossoneri bench and goes on the professional market. His two years with the young Rossoneri were very positive both in terms of results (just think of two consecutive Youth League final fours) and in terms of enhancing the player base. This is his thank you message to Milan published via his profile Instagram: “When you belong to something or someone it is difficult to say goodbye. These first three years of mine as a coach have made me feel like I belong even more to a family, the Rossoneri one. First the U16s, then the Primavera, seasons in which the Milan was home again. Now the time has come for me to try to have a different experience away from home. What the boys I have had the honor of coaching have given me over the years cannot be explained, it will remain something special , unique among us. We grew up together, this path united us and took us there, where we managed to get to the championship and the Youth League. Between smiles, some tears, a lot of sacrifice, but also a lot of joy we are proud of the European vice-champions and we are back to competing for the Scudetto victory after so many years.

To all of you I say that I will always carry you with me, you have been and will be my boys. I have to thank the staff who were always there for me and supported me every day. Thanks to all the Rossoneri fans who followed us from near and far. Thanks to all the employees, collaborators, every single person who worked for and with this group. Thanks to all the Club’s management, past and present, for teaming up, giving us the necessary tools and for the precious advice received which I treasure with gratitude. Thanks to you, AC Milan! I hug you all… Ignazio”
