Oreste Cavuto, a European champion lands in Brescia

At the end of the season dinner at the Salamensa in Padenghe, in addition to the spiker from Trento, Matteo Bonomi, promising director from Montichiari and Massimo Redaelli, new assistant coach and video analyst, were also presented.

Brescia, 11 June 2024 – The new Consoli Sferc Centrale 2024 takes three decisive steps forward and in the context of the well-attended end-of-season dinner at the Salamensa at Miralago, presents to sponsors and journalists the very strong spiker Oreste Cavuto coming from the Super League, the baby from Brescia Matteo Bonomi one of the most interesting young directors in Italy and Max Redaelli one of the most expert coaches in the category. The construction of the ambitious team that will participate in the 2024/2025 Serie A2 Championship continues.

Oreste Cavuto, thanks to the victory of the Champions League with the Trentino Itas, arrives at coach Zambonardi’s court with great objectives. After seven seasons in the Super League played between Trento, Ravenna and Cisterna he returns to A2 where in the 2016/2017 season with the Bergamo shirt he met Brescia in always heated derbies. Cavuto is a complete spiker with a high technical level and great power in attack and is also equipped with a great serve. In the last three years in Trento he has won an Italian Super Cup, a scudetto and a few weeks ago a beautiful Champions League, graduating with Michieletto and his teammates as European champions. His list of achievements in the blue jersey also includes a bronze at the U23 world championship and a gold at the Mediterranean Games. “I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and above all this club which has represented volleyball in Brescia for years also in light of these last two trophies won, the Italian Cup and the Super Cup. The great expectations of Atlantis convinced me to accept this challenge – explains Cavuto – and we certainly don’t want to hide. The first step will be to create a cohesive group to then be as united as possible in the challenges we will face in this long season. All my colleagues have always spoken highly of this company to me and so I can’t wait to put all my experience and enthusiasm into play.”

Matteo Bonomi, Atlantide’s promising new second setter, was born in 2006, comes from Volley Montichiari and despite his age already has a CV of absolute value. After winning provincial, regional and national titles year after year with the Montichiari youth team and having led the regional selection as captain to a brilliant third place in the 2022 Regions Trophy, Matteo was called up to the national team for two years in a row pre-juniors coached by Michele Zanin. Among the most promising young setters in Italy, he played in Serie B in Montichiari for the last two seasons. Precise hands, leg speed and determination are his main qualities. “It’s an honor for me to play in this club and test myself in a high-level championship – explains Matteo in his first words as a Toucan – I have great expectations for this year and I can’t wait to start training alongside a great master like Simone Tiberti.”

Atlantide Pallavolo Brescia is getting stronger and not just from a technical point of view. Zambonardi and Iervolino arrive next Max Redaelli, one of the most experienced and experienced technicians in the category. After growing up between Carate and Monza, Max is the protagonist of wonderful seasons first in Milan with the promotion from B1 to A2, then in Cantù where he remains for ten years also reaching a final promotion and finally in Bergamo which he brings, always as second coach, to the play off final. At youth level, his collaboration for nine years with the Lombardy regional men’s selection, participating in the Regions Trophy, with which he won 5 gold medals, stands out. Redaelli, who in his career has held not only the role of second coach but also that of scoutman, will join the technical staff in Brescia as assistant coach and video analyst, a role which has now become fundamental in the preparation and tactical management of matches. “I’m excited for the call from Brescia and for the return to men’s volleyball, after a year in the women’s A2 at Costa Volpino – explains Redaelli – For my 14th season in Serie A I’m arriving in a club which has had as an opponent in many clashes on the field and for whom I have always had great respect. The bar, as I was told, has been raised, so I am truly honored and motivated to be part of this group with important goals.”

Over the moon coach Zambonardi: “Cavuto is a top-level athlete. In these years of Super League he has improved year after year and will be fundamental for us! The fact that a European champion athlete chooses Brescia fills us with pride and demonstrates, if proof were still needed, the goodness of our image in the national and international volleyball scene. Bonomi – he continues – Zambonardi – is instead a young setter on the launching pad. After seeing him on the pitch in Serie B in Montichiari we believe that he could be the right director to support Tiberti and to learn a lot from him. Finally, Redaelli is a guarantee: he has already experienced the last exciting matches that brought us the two cups alongside us and I have no doubts about his ability to prepare matches and give the right advice at the right time”
