From the 173 subjects reported for tax crimes to the 481 undeclared or irregular workers discovered; from the kilo and a half of narcotic substances seized to the 225 suspicious financial flows examined. On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the Corps, the Forlì-Cesena Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza takes stock of the activities from 1 January 2023 to 31 May. During this period, over 2,600 inspections and 400 investigations were carried out to combat economic-financial crimes and the infiltration of crime into the economy. In more detail, a total of 36 tax evaders and 481 irregular workers were identified, while of the 173 reported for tax crimes, one was arrested. Furthermore, non-existent or high fiscal risk tax credits in the field of construction and energy were reported to the Revenue Agency, and assets constituting profits from tax evasion and fraud were seized, for a value of over eight million euros. There are six proposals for the termination of the VAT number and cancellation from the Vies database. The 24 interventions in the field of excise duties, continues the Gdf report, made it possible to seize more than 6,000 kilograms of energy products. The Corps also carried out 61 checks on tax credits, contributions and financing for citizens and businesses for over 21, 5 million euros. As well as 80 interventions on national public spending, of which 54 on the subject of citizenship income and new inclusion and support measures for training and work. Overall, there were 55 investigations into public spending with 137 subjects reported and five reported to the Court of Auditors.
Seven investigations were carried out with the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, with two subjects reported. In terms of procurement, award procedures and methods of execution of works and services for over 21.5 million euros were monitored. On the organized and economic-financial crime front, in the field of money laundering there were eight interventions, three people reported and illicit operations for more than 2.9 million euros. Over 225 suspicious financial flows generated by operators of the anti-money laundering prevention system were investigated. Again: four subjects were reported for banking and financial abuse. At the maritime and air borders, 20 checks were carried out on the circulation of currency with the discovery of illicit movements amounting to almost 100,000 euros. In terms of bankruptcy crimes, however, misappropriated assets amounting to more than 13 million euros have been ascertained. There were also 218 anti-mafia investigations recorded. In these 17 months the departments have seized approximately one and a half kilos of narcotic substances, mainly cocaine and hashis, reporting three subjects, one of whom is under arrest, and reporting 21. While for the protection of the market of goods and services , 64 interventions were carried out, 20 proxies developed and 26 subjects reported. With over 165,000 counterfeit products seized. For the current summer, the Guardia di Finanza renews its controls to guarantee “a greater level of safety perceived by the community and users of the sea”, through the temporary redeployment of naval units in the most frequented locations.
Furthermore, the Gdf contributes to the protection of public order and safety during public demonstrations and events also thanks to the military specialized in Anti-terrorism Ready deployment “At-Pi”. In 2023, the Forlì-Cesena Financial Police spent a total of 145 man-days in public order services during demonstrations, sporting events, international meetings and other events. This commitment, which continues in 2024, led to a total use of 194 man-days in public order services.
